Tom Gannon

Tom Gannon joined LPL Financial in 2024. As Chief Advocacy Officer, he leads LPL Financials’ advocacy efforts at the federal, state and local levels in addition to leading the firm’s political action committee (PAC) and the LPL 50 State Advocacy Network. He works closely with policymakers and regulators as well as industry and trade groups, representing LPL advisors and the LPL business to foster alignment with the company’s enduring purpose – empowering advisors to deliver high quality and personalized advice to all who need it.

Prior to joining LPL Financial, Mr. Gannon spent several years at H&R Block as their Chief Government Relations Officer, leading the company’s advocacy and public policy efforts in Washington and other important markets for the company. This included maintaining advocacy efforts across distinct business lines, including tax, financial services and small business, in addition to leading strategic partnerships with national and state nonprofit policy organizations.

Mr. Gannon spent more than 11 years at Mastercard leading their public policy team. This included managing the lobbying team as well as executing a strategic engagement plan on all important policy issues including core products, network operations, payment security, digital payments, innovation, acceptance, financial accessibility, new payment flows, privacy and fin tech issues. In addition, Mr. Gannon was responsible for spearheading consumer education initiatives which serves to bring financial literacy programs to under-served consumers and create more welcoming communities.

Mr. Gannon previously worked in government relations for Credit Union National Association where he focused on electronic payments, student lending, small business financing, cyber security, housing finance and regulatory restructuring.
Prior to that, he worked for American Hotel & Lodging Association where he managed the groups’ grassroots and political programs, including HotelPAC, and focused on legislative issues important to the industry.

He began his career on Capitol Hill working for Members of Congress from New York State.
Mr. Gannon holds a Political Science degree from Canisius College and an MBA from Johns Hopkins University. He currently resides in Arlington, VA with his wife and children.
