Brenda Becker
Brenda Becker is Senior Vice President, Global Government Affairs for Boston Scientific (BSX). She leads the company’s global government affairs team and public policy. She is accountable for developing a vision, strategy and navigating complex problems.
Brenda brings an outstanding history of success to Boston Scientific in the field of governmental affairs and healthcare. Prior to this role, she served in the G.W. Bush Administration as Assistant to Vice President Cheney for Legislative Affairs. She advised the Vice President of the United States and senior White House staff on legislative strategy in the House and Senate. Brenda served as the VP’s liaison on Capitol Hill with members of Congress and the leadership team.
In addition, the United States Senate confirmed Brenda as the Assistant Secretary for Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs for the United States Department of Commerce where she provided advice and counsel to the Secretary of Commerce and other senior Commerce officials on Congressional and Intergovernmental affairs issues.
Prior to her role at the Commerce Department, Brenda served as the Vice President for Congressional Communications at the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. She worked for the Blue Cross and Blue Shield organization leading their political operation, managing state issues, and advocating on key insurance and health care issues federally.
In April 2021 Brenda received the prestigious Bryce Harlow Business-Government Relations Award that recognized her exemplary lifelong career in the profession.
In March 2022, Brenda became an Independent Board Member serving on the Corporate Board of Sight Sciences (SGHT) which is an eyecare technology company focused on creating innovative solutions intended to transform care and improve the lives of patients.
Also, in 2018 Brenda served a two-year appointment by the U.S. President to serve on the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, & Nutrition. This Council focuses on educating Americans and leading outreach and awareness efforts to improve the health and fitness of the American people with a special focus on our youth.
Brenda holds a B.A. in Political Science and Public Administration from Michigan State University and an M.A. in business administration from Central Michigan University.
