A New Advisory Board Member Brings a Track Record of Success

(District of Columbia, October 17, 2024) – The Congressional Award proudly announces that a new member has recently joined its Board of Directors. New members bring their success and wisdom to a tremendously talented and resourceful roster of individuals who collectively aid the Congressional Award’s ongoing recognition of youth accomplishments and service. 

Paxton Baker, Chairman of the Board, stated, “Juan’s dynamic experiences and his commitment to building communities make him a perfect match for this organization. I look forward to his role in encouraging young people to uplift and inspire their communities through entrepreneurship.”    

Juan J. Baños is the Chief Executive Officer at The BR Companies. Juan is also a principal in The Legacy Group and Legacy Healthcare Foundation, where he focuses on a critical mission to develop rural America and improve health outcomes. As CEO of The BR Companies, Mr. Baños has extensive experience creating success in the construction, development, energy, real estate, and finance sectors. He is motivated by his family and his mission to create jobs that blend entrepreneurial and family culture in a way that can grow communities and facilitate their prosperity.  

The Congressional Award Board of Directors offers opportunities for young people to learn how to build a unified future that is efficient, connected, and sustainable. Members bring expertise, mentorship, and resources that allow the Congressional Award to create an enlightened outlet for our award earners.   

 

 

About the Congressional Award 

The Congressional Award is the United States Congress’ only charity and the highest honor bestowed upon a youth civilian through the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. Established by Congress as a public-private partnership in 1979 under Public Law 96-114, the program recognizes initiative, service, and achievement in youth ages 13 ½ – 23.
