Bruce Walker serves as Associate Director – Television & Entertainment Division for the Government of the District of Columbia’s Office of Cable Television, Film, Music & Entertainment.
Bruce Walker brings more than two decades of expertise to the entertainment industry, establishing himself as a highly accomplished music producer, Emmy Award winning television producer, and senior-level entertainment executive.
Bruce kick-started his career at the legendary Motown
Records, quickly ascending from intern to Vice President of A&R and General Manager of MoJazz, Motown’s pioneering jazz label. Under his leadership, the jazz division achieved unprecedented Gold Record sales, garnering attention from the Olympics for a jazz album and live performances at the Atlanta ceremonies. Notable projects included multi-platinum and Grammy Award-winning endeavors featuring iconic artists like Stevie Wonder, Boyz II Men, Queen Latifah, and Johnny Gill.
Transitioning seamlessly to television, Bruce became a television executive producer of variety music television specials at Black Entertainment Television (BET). His journey continued at DreamWorks, SKG, where he played a pivotal role as the General
Manager of the Music Division, contributing significantly to the Multi-Platinum and Gold sales of “The Prince of Egypt” soundtrack.
Bruce’s career path extended to independent producer and marketing consulting roles for major entertainment companies, including NBC, SiTV, BET, Time Life, Universal Music Group, Sony and Hidden Beach.
Returning to Washington DC in 2016, Bruce joined The Office
of Cable Television, Film Music, and Entertainment as the Associate Director of Television and Entertainment. In this capacity, he oversees and develops live and nonscripted
programming content for three cable television networks distributed by Verizon, RCN, and Comcast.
His strategic leadership expanded distribution to include Boston, Chicago, New York, and Pennsylvania, resulting in over 45 television awards, including four Emmy Awards.
Beyond television, Bruce has excelled in live event production, overseeing DC Radio, one of only two full-powered government-owned radio stations.
His achievements include securing programming partnerships with WUSA9 and BET, where he recently executive produced the first nationally aired Urban TV show on BET/BET Her.
In 2020, Bruce spearheaded the creation and development of content for a streaming network, achieving global distribution on platforms such as ROKU, Fire TV, Apple TV, iPhone, and Android, officially launching in September 2021.
