The Congressional Award, America’s highest award for youth, invites applications for the position of Program Officer. The Program Officer will be the Foundation’s liaison with Members of Congress, youth organizations, schools, Congressional Award Advisors, and state and local media. They will coordinate program operations, promote and publicize the program, and oversee award presentations. This team member will also plan and manage national events.
Created by Congress in 1979, The Congressional Award is a public-private partnership that promotes and recognizes achievement, initiative and service in America’s youth. The Congressional Award is congress’s challenge to young people to set ambitious personal challenges and receive the recognition they deserve for their efforts.
The Program Officer will be an innovative thinker and team player, with an interest in youth development. The successful candidate will be a flexible, self-starter with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. Excellent writing and interpersonal skills and event management experience required to function effectively with The Congressional Award Team. Capitol Hill experience is preferred, but not required.
