After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, Ed received his JD from Georgetown University Law Center in 1971. 

He is a Principal of Lerner Enterprises, a private real estate development and investment company in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, and Executive Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer of Lerner Corporation, its management subsidiary. 

He is also a Principal Owner and a Vice Chairman of the Washington Nationals Baseball Club. He serves on the Boards of The Congressional Award, The Duke Ellington School, and Georgetown University.
