JONATHAN HEAFITZ

Jonathan Heafitz is the Vice President of Federal Affairs for the Pharmaceutical Care Management Association (PCMA). Heafitz oversees PCMA’s advocacy at the federal level on behalf of America’s pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs). Heafitz has been central in the debate on federal prescription drug policy for more than a decade, ranging from the implementation of Medicare’s Part D prescription drug benefit to the ongoing national discussion on prescription drug pricing. In this capacity, Heafitz educates policy makers about the pharmaceutical supply chain, from manufacturers to pharmacy, and the important role that payors and PBMs play in providing affordable prescription drug benefits.
In addition to the Congressional Award, Heafitz serves on the board of Franklin Center for Global Policy Exchange, which brings together Members of Congress with their global policy counterparts to enhance understanding of important international issues. In 2019, Heafitz was named by Business Insider as one of 34 healthcare power players in Washington.
Prior to PCMA, Heafitz worked on the staff of Senators Mark Dayton (D-MN) and Jay Rockefeller (D-WV), as well as Ascension, one of the nation’s largest health systems. Mr. Heafitz is a graduate of Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts, and holds a Master of Public Policy in Health Policy from the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University. He is a resident of Silver Spring, Maryland, where he spends as much free time as he can with his wife, two children, and Boston Terriers, Penney, Minnie, and Buck.
