Three ceremonies will be held in the Kennedy Caucus Room of the Russell Senate Office Building. Gold Medalists are assigned to one ceremony based on their state affiliation. Ceremony assignments are listed below.
Russell Senate Office Building
Kennedy Caucus Room (SR-325)
Main entrance located at Constitution Avenue, NW and Delaware Avenue, NE
Medalists and guests will need to enter the Russell Senate Office Building through one of the four visitor entrances located on each corner. We recommend using the main entrance (outlined below).
When entering the building you will need to go through security (metal detector and x-ray machine for belongings). Allow 15-20 additional minutes for entry. Please consult the list of prohibited items in the U.S. Capitol Complex. Note that water bottles and other beverages cannot be brought inside.
Each Gold Medalist is provided with two complimentary guest spaces at the ceremony.
Additional guests may be requested through the online RSVP form and will be approved or denied by email after May 10, 2018. Please note that guest space will be limited as we have our largest Gold Medal class to date and a strict capacity limit.
Russell Senate Office Building
The Kennedy Caucus Room is located in the Russell Senate Office Building.
There are visitor entrances at each corner of the building.
The main entrance is located at Constitution Avenue, NW and Delaware Avenue, NE.
Metro accessible: Union Station (Red Line) & Capitol South (Blue/Orange/Silver Lines)
10:00 a.m. | Ceremony One
Gold Medalists from the following states will be presented at the first ceremony: Arizona, Georgia, Guam, Idaho, Illinois, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
12:30 p.m. | Ceremony Two
Gold Medalists from the following states will be presented at the second ceremony: California, Delaware, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, and Texas.
3:00 p.m. | Ceremony Three
Gold Medalists from the following states will be presented at the third ceremony: Connecticut, Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
Gold Medalists should arrive 45 minutes before their ceremony is scheduled to begin.
Guests may check in and enter the room 15 minutes before the ceremony is scheduled to begin.
4:45 p.m. | Gold Medalist Group Photos
Capitol Reflecting Pool
Located west of 1st Street, NW between Maryland and Pennsylvania Avenues.
Immediately following the third ceremony, Gold Medalists will be led to group photos.
Medalists from the first two ceremonies should meet the group at the photo location no later than 4:40 p.m. with their Gold Medal!
June 22, 2018 | Washington Nationals Day
In partnership with the Washington Nationals, Gold Medalists have the unique opportunity to spend time at Nationals Park throughout the day. The Nats have invited Gold Medalists to take group photo on the field in the morning and are providing complimentary tickets to the game in the evening.

11:30 a.m. | Photo on the Diamond
Please meet at the entrance to the ballpark on First Street SE promptly at 11:30 a.m. as we will be entering the park at 11:45 a.m. You will not be able to enter if you are not with the group. Parents and other family members will wait outside as ONLY medalists are welcome on the field.
7:05 p.m. | Washington Nationals vs. Philadelphia Phillies
Each Gold Medalist will be provided with three complimentary tickets (one for the medalist and two for their guests).
Gold Medalists and guests will be seated in similar sections. Please be aware that the camera will pan to our sections early in the game and photos of Gold Medalists will be displayed on screen prior to the game. The Horizon Award will also be presented.
